The development of a sustainable hydrogen economy plays a central role in the climate protection plans of many countries. However, despite the urgency of the climate crisis, many questions remain unanswered. How can hydrogen be transported and stored efficiently and economically? In which applications can hydrogen replace fossil fuels? How can existing Infrastructure continue to be used? The Institute for a Sustainable Hydrogen Economy (INW) was founded to answer these questions and pave the way for industrial implementation. With us, you have the opportunity to support the INW with your ideas right from the start in order to establish a research and innovation cluster that will drive the structural change of the Rhenish mining area towards a sustainable energy region of the future. We are laying the Science foundations in the field of innovative hydrogen technologies. Become part of a strong team that will develop the INW into a scientific and technological beacon.
Your Job:
Many reactions in the liquid phase are diffusion-limited. In this project, quasi continuous catalysis is to be made possible by using the shortest possible paths. To this end, both the catalyst particals (100-1000 nm) and the associated reactor concept are to be developed.
This includes, among other things:
- Synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles with a superparamagnetic core
- Functionalization of the surface to optimize catalytic properties
- Investigation of the suitability for dehydrogenation of chemical hydrogen carriers (LOHC)
- Identification and investigation of further possible applications in Energy and environmental technology and the chemistry industry
- Development of methods for the targeted control of nanoparticles using magnetic fields
- Participation in project meetings
- Coordination with inside and external project partners
- Publications and presentation of research results in relevant journals and at national and international conferences
- Participation in the establishment of the institute
Your Profile:
- Very good university degree (Master) in the fields of chemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry, material science or a comparable discipline
- Knowledge of hydrogen and energy research is an advantage
- High motivation to complete the doctorate within 3 years
- Very good organizational skills
- Ability to show initiative and work independently
- Very good cooperation and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
