We invite applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position in the research group of Prof. Dr. Owen Petchey at the University of Zurich, based in the city of Zurich, Switzerland. Our group investigates the determinants of ecological stability in microbial communities by integrating experimental approaches with conceptual and mathematical models of ecological systems.

Position Overview
The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research exploring how ecological theory can be applied and developed to understand microbial community dynamics. The position involves:
- Designing and conducting experimental studies in microbial ecology
- Developing and applying conceptual and mathematical models

Your profile
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants should have no more than two years of postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment. We are looking for candidates with expertise in:
- Ecological theory and modeling
- Experimental microbial ecology
- Study design and hypothesis generation
- Statistical analysis of ecological data
- Scientific communication and dissemination
Additional Opportunities
The postdoc will also make career-appropriate contributions to teaching and have the opportunity to develop supervisory experience, for example by mentoring Bachelor’s project students.
